Who are you reading lately?

I'm always looking for book recommendations.

So although my pile of to-reads is, as always, enormous and growing, I'm sharing today's Thought Question in hopes of getting some good leads.

And of course, the obligatory followup question, "And why?"

  1. My favorite question!

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: The best gift Optimista ever gave me. This book is perfect in every way.
The Fault in Our Stars: This one is technically YA, but so beautifully written that it crosses over easily. The best book I read in all of 2012.
The Woman Who Wasn't There: This one is non-fiction, about 9/11. That's all I'll say, other than it was so fascinating I couldn't put it down.
I love Jeffrey Eugenides, and Middlesex is an absolutely amazing book. One of my top favorites.
Same with Ann Patchett (Bel Canto is my favorite...)
Same with Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild is my favorite, but Under the Banner of Heaven is fantastic.)
    Life of Pi-- AMAZING
And if you like short stories, Olive Kitteridge (some of the best writing EVER) and Interpreter of Maladies are my two all time favorites

I'm currently reading Bossypants by Tina Fey-- Hilarious.

Man, I am a dork! Follow me on goodreads if you can! (lshanna)

  2. Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is one of my all-time favorites, too (obviously!).

Also, The Time Traveler's Wife. And The School of Essential Ingredients (one of the best gifts l.shanna ever gave me!).

    Taking notes on l.shanna's list...
